I'm Zacary Harmon
a recent MSCS Graduate

This portfolio is an S3 static site hosted on AWS framed after the 'Cloud Resume Challenge'. This is created entirely on AWS using their services, which will be briefly broken down below:

• DNS: Provisioned through AWS Route 53
• HTTPS: Provisioned through AWS Certificate Manager paired with AWS CloudFront with Origin Access Control for private S3 bucket access.
• The Site: Hosted on a Static S3 Bucket built entirely using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Visitor Counter: Created using a combination of AWS API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and JavaScript, with the persistent data storage being held in AWS DynamoDB.
• Lambda Function: Built using Python. View that code here.
• Infrastructure as Code: All backend resources are defined in an AWS SAM Template and deployed using Github Actions and the SAM CLI.
• CI/CD and Source Control: Github Actions is used to automatically update, test, and deploy our site whenever new code is pushed to either the frontend or backend repository.

My background has been unique, but my experiences have led me to where I am today. I come from a military family, and moved around frequently as a child, eventually settling in Tampa, Florida. I immersed myself in music in highschool, becoming drum major of the band, president of the choir, and officers in multiple honor societies. I even modernized these programs by setting up a website with a virtual storage solution in order to improve our organizations efficiency. As a shy kid, I knew my only way to grow was through experience, and so I followed music to my bachelors degree where I achieved a Bachelors in Music, specializing in Vocal Performance, at the University of North Florida. During my time in my bachelors degree I achieved Musician of the Year for 2 consecutive years, as well as placing as a finalist in numerous competitions. I never once let my work ethic or accountability falter, always seeking to grow from every failure. Reaching the end of my bachelors degree I knew I wanted to continue my education, and so I became an EMT, as well as a registered phlebotomist.

Following my bachelors degree, and working in medicine for a while, I knew I had to follow my other passion, technology. I immediately began to research and achieve certificates through CourseCareers in Data Analytics and Software Development. Through this I was exposed to JavaScript, Golang, SQL, HTML and CSS, as well as Docker and business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Excel. I was eager to expand my skills and continued my self study before deciding to apply for my masters degree through Western Governors University. From there I began to hone my skills and accelerated through my masters program, achieving my Masters in Computer Science, Computing Systems, degree in 5 months of rigourous study. During this process I continued to expand my skillset, where I earned the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certificate as well. I eagerly built cloud, python, and bash related personal projects to grow my experiences and prepare to contribute to a professional team. I am now ready get my foot in the door and meaningfully contribute to said team. I was raised on the pillars of accountability, hard-work, and persistance, and I have demonstrated these attributes through my years of non-stop growth and achievement.

I am a professional musician eager to begin a life in technology. My unique background and strong work ethic give me an advantage over other new graduates. This is due to the fact that I don't just see the world through the eyes of a computer science graduate, I see it through the eyes of a military child, an opera singer, and as a learning and growing professional.
